I have worked at CHOA at Egleston in Atlanta for 42 years. I worked in pediatric cardiology cardiac intensive care unit and cath lab (eletrophysiology). After moving out of Atlanta and to Jasper, I jumped on board to an outpatient adult setting. In the 2 years that I have been practicing as an adult wound care provider and HBO, I find that we (the providers, clinicians and instances) need to hold patients accountable for their own care and lives. After months to years of providing wound care and education to patients to heal their wounds I have witnessed these patients not upholding their commitment in a partnership to heal their wounds.
We need to start small, but require patients to reach attainable goals to heal their wounds.
